The Gardens
We are an RHS Partner Garden and have 14 acres of formal gardens that surround the Hall, with another 90 acres of parkland and woodland that make a stunning backdrop. Laid out well over a century ago the formal gardens were part of previous owner. George Marples’ vision to create ‘a thousand shades of green’ which he wanted to be able to view from his bedroom window.
The Italian Gardens
This elegant area of the garden uses hedging, statues and a fountain to create a stylised impression of an Italian landscape. One of the female statues here appears on the Thornbridge Brewery branding. The Italian Gardens offer a great option for a drinks reception and a great setting for photos.
The South Facing Lawns & Temple
Our South facing lawns provide uninterrupted panoramic views over our parkland to Ashford-in-the-Water and are the perfect location to catch the afternoon sun whilst sipping a celebratory Champagne. They also make a stunning backdrop for your photos. We are licensed to hold Civil Ceremonies at the South Lawn Temple (featured in this photo).
The Scented Terrace
Scented by name, scented by nature - this section of the garden is planted with English Roses, Bearded Irises, Lilies, Monarda, Honeysuckle and Agastache and a wide variety of other textural and scented plants. The garden adopts a luminous quality come the evening which creates a magical backdrop for photos and when it’s moonlight the ethereal glow of the garden can be seen by those enjoying an event at the Carriage House.
